Well the news has officially broke! I somewhat expected something like this was coming due to the fact the calendar for 2013 had not been released yet. Rumors were viciously cycling through the Disney Blog-O-Sphere.

According to Disney, starting 2013 Disney will shorten the evening Extra Magic Hours.  The evening Extra Magic Hours will be decreased by one hour, still leaving 2 hours for resort guests to enjoy.  The change is no doubt in hopes to cut some costs,  the last hour of night time Extra Magic Hours is by far the least profitable, therefore the cuts.  The current changes are visible on the Walt Disney World website.


Good news, for me at least, there are no rumors of plans to change the morning Extra Magic Hours as of right now!  That’s the time I choose to take advantage of since I have a 5 year old!  I can’t stay in the parks till 2 or 3 in the morning anyways.. by that time I am too tired. 


In case you don’t know, Extra Magic Hours at Walt Disney World are extra hours to enjoy the park in the morning and evening for Walt Disney resort guests only.  One park each day will either open an hour early or close 2 hours later for people that are staying on the Walt Disney World property! It is a great way to get a few more rides in without all the crowds.  Just one of the perks to being an “on property guest.”
