Disney puts on so many special events throughout the year! It is one reason I love going to Walt Disney World so much, there is always something new to see and do! One event that you may not have considered yet is a race put on by runDisney!

Run Disney puts on several events throughout the year at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World including the Marathon Weekend, the Princess Half Marathon and the Tinkerbell Half Marathon! These events are a lot of fun with characters, live on course entertainment and actually running through the Parks before they open in the morning! Nothing is as beautiful as seeing the sun rise over Magic Kingdom and getting to run right through the Castle! Talk about a runners dream come true! But, you don’t have to be a runner to enjoy these races. They have what is called a “Cheer Squad” where family members can actually enter the Park before it enters to see you run down Main Street! The cheer squad is an additional fee, but really is worth it!
Want to do more than just sit on the side lines? No worries, runDisney has thought of everything from the Mickey Mile all the way to a Goofy Race (which is the half marathon and then a full marathon). There really is something for the whole family to participate in during the Marathon Weekend!
You only have 84 days before the competition begins so you will want to sign up soon if you are considering participating in the Marathon Weekend! All of the races are at least 75% full, so keep that in mind as well! You don’t have to be super speedy for these races either, as long as you can do a 16 minute mile you are good to go! This year I am proud to say I will be doing the half marathon along with my Mother and Father. My husband is doing the full marathon and my Mother is doing the Goofy, which is the half marathon and then the full marathon!
13.1 miles is a long way to go and what am I most worried about? What I am wearing of course! This race is done in true Disney style, meaning a lot of people dress up! I have seen all types of Princess outfits to matching t-shirts! While you don’t have to dress up, it is super fun to be apart of the Magic of Disney! Here is a sneak peak at what I will be wearing, along with some carpi jogging pants underneath and Minnie Mouse ears!
To sign up for the Marathon Weekend just head over HERE for all of the event details! Have you participated in a Run Disney event? If so, I would love to here about your experience either in the comments below or on facebook. I am a little nervous about the actual run itself, but at least I will be running in style!
